Toffee Apples with Ór-Real Irish Butter.
These sweet and slightly salty treats are perfect for both kids and adults.
Ingredients
- 6 small to medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith for a tart contrast)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup Ór-Real Irish Butter
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- Wooden sticks or popsicle sticks for skewering
Method
- Prepare the Apples:
- Wash and thoroughly dry the apples.
- Remove any stems and insert wooden sticks into the top of each apple. Set aside on a parchment paper-lined tray.
- Make the Toffee:
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the Ór-Real Irish Butter over medium heat.
- Once the butter has melted, add the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, water, and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine.
- Attach a candy thermometer to the side of the saucepan, making sure it doesn't touch the bottom.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat, without stirring, until it reaches 300°F (150°C). This will take around 10-15 minutes, and the mixture will turn a rich caramel color.
- Add Flavor:
- Remove the toffee from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Be cautious as it may sizzle a bit.
- Coat the Apples:
- Working quickly, dip each apple into the hot toffee mixture, tilting the pan to coat them evenly.
- Allow any excess toffee to drip off, then place the coated apples onto the parchment paper-lined tray.
- Cool and Set:
- Let the toffee apples cool and harden at room temperature. This should take about 15-20 minutes.
- Enjoy:
- Once the toffee has completely set, your Ór-Real Irish Butter Toffee Apples are ready to enjoy!
